Published Sep 02, 2014In our annual Hangout Handbook, Exclaim! asks some of our favourite artists what an ideal day in their hometown would entail. Here, Hannah Georgas outlines the perfect way to spend 24 hours in Vancouver.
Breakfast at Cafe Medina (780 Richards St.) The food is amazing and their coffee is great. I like to treat myself to their lavender lattes from time to time. Waffles are a must too!
After breakfast make a stop at Revolver (325 Cambie St.) in Gastown. The coffee experience is like no other place I've been to before. They know what they're doing.
Bike ride around the seawall. I like to wake up and ride around Stanley Park when it's not so busy. Good for the brain and heart. Make sure to take a little break at Third Beach to soak in the view.
I love going for a stroll around the market on Granville Island and having a JJBean Americano (various locations) in hand.
Zulu Records (1972 West 4th Ave) is a great spot for record browsing and shopping. The staff is great there too. Their in-stores shows are pretty amazing. I was fortunate to see Rodriguez do a Q&A there a while back.
Go catch some sun down at Spanish Banks. It's never too busy which is really nice.
French Made Baking (81 Kingsway) have delcious chocolate croissants and other pastries. It will seriously change your life.
Head over to the east side of Vancouver for Italian food at Marcello's (1404 Commercial Dr.) Their chef salad and parma pizza are great choices on the menu. It's a great option for a dinner date.
The Lido (518 E. Broadway) is a spot my friend introduced me too recently. Great beer on tap. Comfortable, classy and intimate. If you're lucky you may catch a live act. I saw my friend Jeffrey's band called High Ends play there recently and it was awesome.
I personally enjoy going to The Biltmore (2755 Prince Edward St.) and The Rio Theatre (1660 E. Broadway) The staff at the Rio are super friendly and the theatre itself is really comfy. They serve popcorn and margaritas... score!
After hours, The Narrow (1898 Main St.) is a fun spot to grab a late night drink. Hannah Georgas will be recording a follow-up to her self-titled 2012 album this fall.
